Double Entry Journal #1

Quote:
“Pundits may be asking if the Internet is bad for our children’s mental development, but the better question is whether the form of learning and knowledge-making we are instilling in our children is useful to their future.”     -Education Needs a Digital-Age Upgrade

Response:
It’s hard to imagine finding a wide variety of information without the internet. For my generation, the internet was a huge part of my learning. I can’t imagine how much it will mean in the future. To think that some are afraid of letting students use the internet is mind-boggling. Yes, the internet has some things that are not kid friendly, but many schools have sites blocked for this reason. Without the internet, these students will be behind in the world of today. Most jobs are connected to the internet in some way today, but the future will further instill this fact. letting our students use the internet helps them better understand the world around them and essentially, letting our students hold the world in the palm of their hands.
